What ages do you serve?

We serve children from 6 weeks through 5 years of age across two licensed components: our Roots Infant Program (6 weeks–24 months) and our Preschool Program with three classrooms — Sapling (2–3 years), Branch (3–4 years), and Crown Pre-K (4–5 years).

We are open Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM. No child may arrive before 7:00 AM due to state ratio requirements. All children must be picked up by 5:30 PM. If you anticipate a late pick-up, please contact us and notify your emergency pick-up contact in advance.

No. Our curriculum has no religious elements. We welcome children and families of all religious, cultural, and non-religious backgrounds. Our diversity is something we actively celebrate, not simply accommodate.

Yes. We provide a nutritious hot lunch Tuesday through Friday, plus morning and afternoon snacks daily. On Mondays, parents provide a packed lunch from home. If a child forgets their Monday lunch, we provide a backup meal at no charge. There is no separate cost for meals.

Through Procare — our primary communication platform. You’ll receive daily reports with photos, activities, meals, and milestone updates every afternoon. We respond to messages within 4 business hours. For urgent matters, please call the center directly.

What is the caregiver-to-infant ratio?
1 caregiver for every 4 infants — the California Title 22 standard. We will never exceed this ratio.

Yes — diapers and wipes are included in infant tuition. No need to pack them daily.

Absolutely. We will work with you to find a time that is convenient for both you and the teaching team. Nothing replaces that mother-baby connection and we fully support it.

Are you licensed by the state of California?
Yes. Bright & Rooted is a licensed Child Care Center with the California Department of Social Services, License #503810326. We are dual-component licensed: Infant (12 capacity) and Preschool (45 capacity).

Yes — always. California law gives parents the right to visit their child’s licensed childcare center at any time during operating hours without prior notice. We welcome drop-in visits. We have nothing to hide and everything to show.

Only adults you have designated on your child’s Identification and Emergency Information form (LIC 700). Staff verify identity of any unfamiliar adult by checking government-issued photo ID against your authorized list. No one under 18 may sign a child out. If an unauthorized person arrives, we will not release your child — we contact you immediately.

Do you accept CAPP subsidies?
Yes. We are an approved provider for the California Alternative Payment Program (CAPP) through SCOE. Many Modesto families qualify and don’t know it. We encourage you to apply — and we will personally guide you through every step of the process.

We accept CAPP via SCOE, StanWORKs Child Care, and CalWORKs Stage 1 and Stage 2. Not sure which program you qualify for? Book a free 20-minute subsidy guidance call with Basu or Rezy — we’ll figure it out together.

Yes — 10% off tuition for every additional sibling enrolled. Because families shouldn’t have to choose which child to enroll.

What curriculum do you use?
We use HighScope curriculum — a research-based, indicator-driven approach tracking developmental progress across all domains. We enrich this with Reggio Emilia philosophy (child-led exploration, 100 languages of expression) and nature-based learning. BasuTots-inspired technology tools help us track and share milestones with families in real time.

Our Crown Pre-K program is specifically designed to prepare children for Modesto Unified School District kindergarten — academically, socially, and emotionally. We focus on literacy, phonics, early writing, math concepts, critical thinking, and emotional regulation. Children leave Bright & Rooted confident and genuinely ready.

Yes. We create an individual Needs and Services Plan for every child with special needs prior to enrollment. The plan is reviewed quarterly by our Director in partnership with the parent and updated as the child’s needs evolve. We believe every child deserves to be met exactly where they are.

When should I keep my child home?
Children must be fever-free and symptom-free for at least 24 hours before returning. If your child develops symptoms during the day, we will contact you to arrange pick-up. Please help us maintain a healthy environment for all the children in our care.

We follow an Individual Medication Plan (IMS) for any child requiring medication during the day. Only medications listed in a child’s approved IMS plan will be administered. We maintain detailed medication logs per occurrence. Ask us at enrollment for guidance.
